Charles McMurray studied painting, sculpture and the graphic arts while pursuing a degree in Architecture at the School of Design at North Carolina State University. After completing a Diploma in Civic Design at the University of Edinburgh, he worked in the architectural offices of Eero Saarinen, Kevin Roche-John Dinkeloo, A.G. Odell and Harry Wolf before opening his own architectural/planning office in 1971.
McMurray's strong in interest in building interiors led him to design and develop a collection of furniture which he began manufacturing and marketing under his name in 1981. The sale of the furniture company in 1998 allowed him to again pursue his interest in sculpture, painting and the graphic arts.
